How the audio tour works

  1. Pick a route or just start walking. Open Baia Mare in aiGuide, choose a route and tap Begin walking tour, or start from wherever you are.
  2. Lock your phone and put it away. While the tour runs, aiGuide follows where you are with the screen off.
  3. Listen as you arrive. Each story starts as you approach the place. Pause or skip from the lock screen or your AirPods, and type a question in Ask when you want to know more.

Questions about the Baia Mare audio tour

Is the Baia Mare audio guide free?

aiGuide is free to download and free to try: every month some stories and Ask answers are free. To hear more, upgrade to aiGuide Pro in the app, or buy a Trip Pass: 7 days of Pro for a single payment that doesn't renew. The app shows prices in your currency.

Does the Baia Mare tour work offline?

Plan on a data connection. aiGuide downloads the Baia Mare guide the first time you open the city, and each story is written and voiced live. With no signal it reads the place's short description in the iPhone's own voice instead. Cluj-Napoca and Zakynthos are built into the app and load offline.

Which languages are the stories in?

12 languages: English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish. aiGuide follows your iPhone's language when it can, and you can pick another one in Settings.

How does it know where I am? Do I have to hold my phone?

No need to hold it. Start a tour, lock your phone and put it in your pocket. While the tour runs, aiGuide uses your location to notice when you approach a place and starts its story. Pause, resume or skip from the lock screen or your AirPods. When you pause or end the tour, it stops using your location in the background.

Where do the facts in the stories come from?

Every story is written by AI from a set of facts and shows where those facts come from. In Baia Mare, each place comes from our curated guide; anywhere else, stories are based on Wikipedia or OpenStreetMap, with a link to the source so you can check it.

Do I need an iPhone?

Yes. aiGuide is an iPhone app for iOS 17 or later. There is no Android version.
